Decided it was time to upgrade my WSUS Server to Windows Server 2019.
Created a new Windows Server 2019 image and server.
Installed VMWare Tools.
And then on reboot…… meet with a black pane. Couldnt do anything or prompt it
Powered off, and restart. Same thing.

The reason this occurs is because when i specified the Guest Operating System during the creation of the VM, there was no option to specify Windows Server 2016.

VMWare Tools then installs the version based off this version. So when Windows powers on, it is not finding the correct files to start up.
Why does this occur, as I am running ESXi 6.0.0b, there are multiple patches available to apply to this ESXi host which includes VMWare Tools for Windows Server 2016, and the relevant drop down for Microsoft Windows Server 2016.
To resolve this, need to apply ESXi 6.0 Update 3, and then the latest patches to recognize Windows Server 2016 as a Guest Operating System.
Highlighted below is the version of ESXi 6.0 that i am running, and you will notice how far behind it is.
