VMWare Workstation – Module ‘CPUIDEarly’ power on failed

Successfully installed VMWare Workstation on my Dell T5400 workstation, but when I went to power on my VM to finish installing, got the following error:

Module ‘CPUIDEarly’ power on failed.

Solution:

I have a Dell T5400 Workstation, so restart the PC (if already on)

1.) Press the “F2” button when the Dell logo appears to load the BIOS.
On Hewlett Packard PCs its “F10” to load the bios.

2.) Once the BIOS has loaded, use the keyboard arrows to scroll down to Performance.

3.) Hit the Right arrow key to expand the performance drop down.

4.) The two values I am looking for are Virtualization and VT for Direct I/O which are both set as “Off”.

5.) Select both settings to On, and press ESC to load into Windows.

You will not be able to power on the Virtual Machine.

Black Console after Installing VMWare Tools – W2K19 & ESXi 6.0

Decided it was time to upgrade my WSUS Server to Windows Server 2019.

Created a new Windows Server 2019 image and server.
Installed VMWare Tools.
And then on reboot…… meet with a black pane. Couldnt do anything or prompt it
Powered off, and restart. Same thing.

The reason this occurs is because when i specified the Guest Operating System during the creation of the VM, there was no option to specify Windows Server 2016.

VMWare Tools then installs the version based off this version. So when Windows powers on, it is not finding the correct files to start up.

Why does this occur, as I am running ESXi 6.0.0b, there are multiple patches available to apply to this ESXi host which includes VMWare Tools for Windows Server 2016, and the relevant drop down for Microsoft Windows Server 2016.

To resolve this, need to apply ESXi 6.0 Update 3, and then the latest patches to recognize Windows Server 2016 as a Guest Operating System.

Highlighted below is the version of ESXi 6.0 that i am running, and you will notice how far behind it is.
